| Have you
ever had a conversation where you struggled to explain exactly why you
believe what you do about God, about Christ, and perhaps some of the
other things that Christians believe in? This class explores the
basic core of Christian beliefs, but from the perspective of trying to
dialogue with those who are yet to believe in Jesus. Beginning
with the question of "Is there a God?" and continuing on with the
question of "How can I know what God is really like?" this class will
cover the issues of presuppositions in "knowing" and the assumptions
that dictate what we consider authoritative in our faith and knowing.
This will include discussion of comparative religion and denominational
differences. Once these preliminaries have been covered, we will turn
to the central teachings of Christianity and also discussion of
contemporary moral issues. Please join us regardless of your beliefs, as it is never a bad thing to evaluate your own presuppositions and test them out against the beliefs of others. Discussion is open and free with the hope that our conversations with all about religion can be civil and productive, promoting greater understanding and communication across the gamut of religious beliefs. |
